(A 24 hour on call service is available for urgent procedures after discussion with the radiologist/cardiologist on call.)
Interventional procedures are surgical procedures performed under the guidance of an imaging modality such as ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) or fluoroscopy.
Room 7, a biplane angiography unit is used for cardiac and radiological interventional procedures.
Ultrasound guided procedures such as biopsies, drainages, and percutaneous nephrostomies can be performed in the department or in the operating theatre.
All interventional procedure bookings (such as bronchograms, angiograms and biopsies) need to be discussed with a radiologist before booking.
Many patients require a general anaesthetic for the procedures, so arrangements need to be made with anaesthetics when the procedure is booked.
Any patient preparation will be discussed at the time of booking.
Bookings cannot be made without a completed request form.
