What is the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)?

Triple P is proven to help you raise happy and confident children.
The program is based on extensive research that shows the importance of positive, effective parenting.
Triple P uses simple strategies and small changes to demonstrate practical, effective ways to manage common behavioural issues faced by many parents, such as:
Parents who participate in Triple P will learn:

The Department of Health offers Triple P to parents of children three to ten years of age.
There are three styles of Triple P you can attend for free. Please note programs may not be available in all areas. You will be given a workbook to take home and a crèche may be available at some locations. Grandparents and carers are also welcome to attend Triple P.
Seminar Series Triple P provides an introduction to the principles of positive parenting for parents of children aged 3 – 8 years.
The program consists of three, 90 minute individual seminars:
The seminars provide transition information for parents enrolling their child in day care, preschool or primary school.
Parents can attend any or all of the seminars.

Group Triple P is for parents of children aged 3 – 8 years.
The program teaches a broad range of strategies to help parents manage their children’s behaviour in a variety of parenting situations.
The eight week program includes 5 group sessions and 3 telephone consultations to tailor the program to the needs of each family.
Parents will be asked to complete confidential questionnaires to help ensure the program meets their individual needs. Completion of the questionnaires is voluntary but strongly encouraged.
Lifestyle Triple P is a group-based lifestyle behaviour program designed for parents of children 5 – 10 years who are overweight or obese.
The program aims to increase the skills and confidence of parents to encourage healthy lifestyles in their families.
The 17 week program includes 10 group sessions and 4 telephone consultations to tailor the program to individual families.
Parents will be asked to complete confidential questionnaires and to consent to pre and post child measurements. This information is requested to help ensure the program meets individual needs. All requests are voluntary but strongly encouraged.

Triple P programs are scheduled at different venues and times during school terms and a free crèche may be available. Please note programs fill quickly, once full, parents will be placed on a waitlist for the next available program.
