STEPS TO SECURE A POSITION
Interested in a position with the Child and Adolescent
Health Service as a Registered Nurse, Registered Paediatric
Nurse, Registered Midwife, Registered Mental Health Nurse?
Steps you need to take to secure a position in our hospitals:
- Contact the Nurses
Board of Western Australia and enquire about registering
as a Nurse/Midwife +61 8 9421 1100. You may also wish
to contact the Australian
Nursing and Midwifery Council regarding national standards
and processes for the regulation of nursing within Australia.
- Once you have obtained registration, contact the Human Resource Department.
- If positions are available, an interview shall be arranged
with a Director of the respective Clinical Care Unit or
Clinical Nurse Manager.
- If you are successful in your interview we will then
offer you a position.
- Offer of employment is conditional on you providing
evidence of:
- Registration with, and current practicing certificate
from the Nurses
Board of Western Australia.
- Satisfactory Pre-employment Health Screening.
- Copy of your birth Certificate, Passport (Visa
details), Qualifications, Certificates, Records of
Service and
Private
Medical Insurance. PMI is essential for visa holders
and their families.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
All registered nurses and midwives are covered by the
Registered Nurses, Midwives and Enrolled Mental Health Nurses – Australian Nursing Federation – WA Health Industrial Agreement 2007.
Award Coverage: Employees covered by this
Agreement are eligible for membership with the Australian
Nursing Federation. Membership is not compulsory, nor will
the hospitals prejudice an employee who belongs to the Association.
Hours: Full-time employees are engaged
on an average of 38-40 hours per week. The hours span and/or
arrangements applying to your workplace should be discussed
with your Manager/Director.
Wages: The current annual and hourly salary
for Registered Nurses/Midwives is as follows:
| Level 1 Increment 1-9 |
$47,428 - $62,412 per annum
$23.9256 - $31.4845 per hour |
| Level 2 Increment 1-4 |
$64,373 - $68,395 per annum
$32.4738 - $34.5027 per hour |

Increments increase for each year of service exceeding
24 hours per week. Less than 24 hours per week requires
to 2 years of service
to increase an increment.
To determine your pay level you will be
required to furnish a record of all your previous nursing
experience. If you have no Record of Service Booklet, letters
from employers on Hospital Letterhead, should contain the
following information:
- position/positions held at the hospital/health organisation
- commencement and ceasing dates
- details of full or part-time hours worked, wards, areas,
departments worked in
- staff working casual (bank) shifts, must also supply
commencement/ceasing dates and number of hours
worked during this period
Presentation: as the hospitals provide
a vital service to patients and parents who may be suffering
from anxiety and stress it is vital that all employees present
themselves in both dress and manner in a way as to reflect
the caring and professional nature of these hospitals.
Smoking: CAHS promote a smoke free environment.
There is a “No Smoking” policy for the hospitals.
Accommodation: is NOT provided by the
hospitals. There is however ample accommodation available
in surrounding areas to the hospitals.

TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION

and an updated Curriculum Vitae expanding on general and
specialty areas worked in nursing and/or midwifery together
with a brief summary of duties and responsibilities for
the acquired positions. Further clarification is also required
of the number of years you have worked in a paediatric hospital
and/or setting, mental health or midwifery.
